Carl Bowlby

artist statement

1.) Geometric No. 1, 24" x 30", acrylic and pencil on canvas, 2016. This is the first in a series of three paintings dedicated to "geometrics" and "perspective painting." They are also painted with an eye towards "color coordination" and a certain degree of "color theory," i.e. what "looks" or "feels" right.

2.) Geometric No. 2, 24" x 30", acrylic and pencil on canvas, 2016. This is the second painting that capitalizes solely on Classical Perspective Painting with, again, an eye towards "color theory" as I have explained above.

3.) Geometric No. 3, 24" x 30", acrylic and pencil on canvas, 2016. This is the third and last in a series of paintings called "Geometric No.s 1, 2, 3." This particular piece, the third, is almost a "painted flag" utilizing the colors of both the Jamaican and Brazilian flags. The yellow circles represent typical light and even the Sun.
